But the CEO of the game's publisher, Activision Blizzard, is also responsible for co-founding the Call of Duty Endowment : a non-profit organisation designed to support real-life war veterans after they exit the armed forces.
Now the Call of Duty Endowment has announced that two UK military charities will become recipients of its Call of Duty: Seal of Distinction Awards. As such, they'll both be awarded a $30,000 (£21,150) grant.
RFEA: The Forces Employment Charity and Walking With the Wounded will receive the funding alongside the opportunity for more funding as well as advice and support.
Stephen Gledhill, CEO of RFEA – The Forces Employment Charity, said: “We’re delighted to be one of the first recipients of The Call of Duty Endowment in the UK.
"RFEA supported 20,000 ex-forces personnel last year, providing tailored employment advice and helping them find work suited to the skills and experience of a military career.
"With the help of the Endowment we’ll be able to reach even more people who need our skills in finding meaningful employment for those who have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.”
