Middle-earth Shadow of War Plot:
The narrative from Shadow of Mordor is continued by Shadow of War, as the story of Talion is followed who is still infused with the Celebrimbor, the elf lord’s spirit. Celebrimbor and Talion then set off to Mt. Doom, where they form, by each others help, a new Ring of Power that is free of any corruption from Sauron. However, when the Ring gets completed, Shelob abducts Celebrimbor and holds him hostage and asks Talion to exchange the ring for Celebrimbor. Talion is reluctant but still agrees to hand over the Ring to Shelob, for the reason that he claims that they have a common enemy in Sauron.
She sees into the future by making use of the Ring and uses that information to direct Talion to the last stronghold of Gondorian in Mordor that goes by the name of Minas Ithil. The reason for which this city sieged by Sauron’s forces is due to the fact that there is a valuable Palantir in this city’s possession. The power of Palantir is that it allows the one who possesses it to see anything they want to, thus, proving itself to be a valuable tool for Celebrimbor and a very dangerous weapon in the hands of Sauron.
When Talion reaches Minas Ithil he quickly finds the one he is looking for, Celebrimbor. The wish of Talion then becomes to help the ones inhabited in Gondoria, while on the other Celebrimbor firmly believes that the city has already been lost and they must make the retrieval of the Palantir their first priority. The reasoning Talion uses is that protecting Minas Ithil will also mean that the Palantir is being protected and he holds a meeting with the defenders of the city: General Castamir, Idril [his daughter], and Baranor [his lieutenant].
They tie their forces together and succeed in sabotaging the efforts of Orcish to break into the city. But, against their expectations Castamir turns on them and betrays them, allowing the Orcs to make it through the gates and the later events turn out so that they have to hand the Palantir over to the Witch King of Angmar so that Idril’s life can be spared. Castamir dies by the hands of Witch King and Talion escape with the help of Eltariel, who is an Elven assassin that work on behalf of the Galadriel’. Minas Ithil is then seized by The Witch King, who renames it to Minas Morgul. By making use of Palantir, Sauron realizes that Celebrimbor’s Ring is in the possession of Shelob and sends Nazgûl to take her. Talion on the moment is able to save Shelob, getting the Ring in return, then Shelob tells him that the Middle-earth’s fate lies in his hands.
